Men to Invigorate Churchill National Park

Following our triumph at Cardinia Reservoir, at the invitation of Parks Victoria an advanced crew went to Churchill National Park to scope our next project.
We have 10 sleeper seats to fix or remove and an equal number of picnic table sets to renovate. So the activity should keep us warm during winter.

Movie Day

This week we had a 'Movie Day' showing some classic episodes of Blackadder.

We did have some initial problems with accessing the video equipment as an unnamed member put a padlock on the video equipment cabinet and then didn't come to the meeting.

After raiding the tool store John and Brian solved the problem with a hacksaw.

Sometime later Paul found the missing key!

Next week
We are going to have a speaker talking about Multiple Sclerosis

Day Out @ Desalination Plant

11 members set out on Wednesday 9th May to check out the Wonthaggi Desalination Plant.

The trip down wasn't without incident as one car did several circuits of Wonthaggi before arriving, which was blamed on the GPS!

Once there we were impressed by the amount of landscaping, and the vast filter hall that can be seen in the photo on the right.

We were also treated to an informative presentation as can be seen by the attentive expressions.

There was a fair bit of good humoured debate on whether the plant had affected the fishing of one of our number on a recent Men's Shed trip in Bass Straight.

Our day out was rounded off by a late lunch at the San Remo Fisherman's Co-op.

Book in for Car Museum Visit

A social outing is confirmed for Sun 3rd June starting 10.00am where we will visit the private collection of Terry Dowel’s cars and paraphernalia at the Trydel Museum.

Terry has amassed a collection of Cords, Cadillacs and many early American automobiles including the only
Tucker in Australia. He also has many Australian Classic Cars

The museum also has many other items that will interest the ladies.

Partners, family and friends are welcomed.

As the property is on a private road and to minimise traffic for the neighbourhood, it could be worthwhile to  car pool as best we can because of limited parking spaces.

The address is 30 Buchanan Rd Guys Hill, Beaconsfield.

There will be a $15 donation to the charities supported by the museum.

A lunch can be arranged afterwards for those interested at the Cardinia Hotel afterwards. . . Contact Hans Van Dyk for more information.

News Round Up

Earlier in March some of our members visited the Sporting Shooters Range in Springvale.

Trevor was keen to tell us that he scored a very creditable 360.

If you want to have a go we are planning another trip around September.

Negotiations are now well underway to double the space available at Essex Park Drive to Double the space available to us on an exclusive basis.

We are still actively looking for a permanent home and have raised almost $22,000 which should be supplemented by grants in due course.

As part of the ongoing fundraising we will be running a Barby at Endeavour Hills Rotary Club's Annual Holden Car Show.

. . . . . so come along this Sunday and buy a burger

Trips Being Planned

A trip to the Vietnam Museum on Philip Island has been planned for April 13th. Interested? . . . see Andras.

We are hoping to set up a lunch as well so the earlier you make your interest known the better.

Rudi is planning a fun walk for this Thursday, meet at Essex Park Community.

We are having a repeat visit to the Sporting Shooters Range at Springvale on the 4th March for $25 each.

A fishing trip is currently being planned, a good option seems to be $60 for a four hour trip from Rye Pier, probably mid April.
